The Opening Range Breakout (ORB) uses the high and low of the first part of the session — often the first 15 minutes — as a decision box. A break above the range is a long signal; a break below is a short signal.
Why the opening range works
The first minutes carry the highest volume and set the day's initial balance. A clean break of that range shows which side has won the early fight and often leads to a directional move.
Targets and stops
A common plan is to measure the height of the opening range and project it as the first target, with the stop on the opposite side of the range. Waiting for a candle to close beyond the range helps filter false breaks.
How NSEStocksChart uses it
15-minute and 60-minute ORB variants are among our tracked index-option strategies, each shown with its accuracy and the average peak move it reached.
