Indian Stock Market Today: NSE Gainers, Nifty Flow

Indian stock market action on 2026-09-29 showed selective strength in mid- and small-cap names even as index option-flow signals stayed in the NOISE zone. NIFTY 50 and BANK NIFTY both closed with an UP direction bias, while radar probabilities continued to favour upside over downside, especially for Nifty.

NSE market snapshot: selective gains lead the tape

Today's NSE action was led by a cluster of stock-specific gainers rather than a high-conviction index trend. On the broader market tape, VIKRAN topped the listed gainers in the 5-20% tracking band, rising 5.57% to close at 60.45.

Other notable movers included WEALTH up 4.59% at 871.0, KPIGREEN up 4.49% at 357.35, UNICHEMLAB up 4.37% at 559.85, and ALBERTDAVD up 4.27% at 883.1. The gainers list was rounded out by CPEDU up 3.87% at 184.0, MARKSANS up 3.32% at 342.55, and ANIKINDS up 3.3% at 44.45.

Top NSE gainers and chart patterns in focus

Among the biggest standouts, VIKRAN not only gained 5.57% to 60.45 but also showed a Double Bottom with neckline broken, a pattern traders often track for reversal confirmation. WEALTH advanced 4.59% to 871.0 with a Flat Base Breakout, signalling a clean consolidation breakout on the platform scan.

ALBERTDAVD closed at 883.1, up 4.27%, and stood out because it flashed two constructive signals together: Double Bottom (neckline broken) and Flat Base Breakout. MARKSANS also featured a Double Bottom (neckline broken) while gaining 3.32% to 342.55. These pattern tags suggest that today's leadership was not random; several gainers were supported by breakout or reversal structures identified by the scanner.

What option flow says about NIFTY 50 and BANK NIFTY

NIFTY 50 ended at 22716.2 with an option-flow score of 28, classified as NOISE, while the direction reading remained UP. Its flow skew was 54.9%, which indicates a mild positive tilt, but not a strong enough reading to suggest a high-conviction trending setup from options positioning alone.

BANK NIFTY closed at 54259.9 with the same option-flow score of 28, also marked NOISE, and its direction was likewise UP. However, its flow skew came in at 40.2%, which is weaker than Nifty's and points to a less supportive options backdrop. In short, both headline indices carried an upward directional bias, but the low scores suggest traders should avoid treating that bias as a decisive trend signal.

Index radar probabilities: Nifty stronger than Bank Nifty

The NIFTY 50 radar shows P(+0.5% move) at 76% versus P(-0.5%) at 33%. That gap clearly favours upside risk over downside risk in the near term, making Nifty the cleaner index setup on probability readings.

For BANK NIFTY, the radar is more balanced. P(+0.5% move) stands at 68% while P(-0.5%) is 55%, so the upside edge exists but is narrower and comes with comparatively higher downside probability than Nifty. This combination aligns with the option-flow view: an UP bias is present, but conviction appears stronger in Nifty than in Bank Nifty.

Retail trader takeaway: separate direction from conviction

One useful lesson from today's data is that direction and conviction are not the same thing. Both NIFTY 50 and BANK NIFTY showed an UP direction, yet both had option-flow scores of just 28 in the NOISE category. That means traders should be careful about assuming a directional tag automatically equals a strong trade setup.

A practical approach is to combine three layers: stock-specific relative strength, pattern confirmation, and index context. Today, names such as VIKRAN, WEALTH, ALBERTDAVD, and MARKSANS had identifiable bullish patterns, while index readings suggested a supportive but not forceful backdrop. For retail traders, that often argues for focusing on cleaner individual setups rather than over-sizing broad index bets.
