Indian Stock Market Today: NSE Gainers, Nifty Flow

Indian stock market action on 2026-08-21 was led by strong moves in select NSE stocks, with ALLCARGO, WELCORP and TBZ topping the 5-20% gainers band. At the index level, both Nifty 50 and Bank Nifty showed an UP direction in option flow, but their scores stayed in the NOISE zone while radar probabilities still heavily favored the downside for a 0.5% move.

Top NSE gainers today: broad strength in select names

Among today’s top NSE gainers in the 5-20% band, ALLCARGO jumped 15.79% to close at 12.17. WELCORP gained 15.3% to 2311.9, while TBZ rose 12.32% to close at 279.5.

The next set of strong movers included MODIRUBBER, up 11.8% to 134.24, THOMASCOOK, up 11.41% to 113.17, and LAMBODHARA, up 9.71% to 118.08. SIL added 9.05% to 20.84, and URBANCO advanced 9.01% to close at 158.6.

Pattern watch: where technical breakouts appeared

WELCORP showed a Double Bottom with the neckline broken, a pattern traders often track as a sign of recovery confirmation after a base formation. MODIRUBBER was flagged for Cup Recovery with retesting of the prior peak, suggesting price returned to an earlier resistance zone.

THOMASCOOK showed an Inverse Head & Shoulders pattern, while LAMBODHARA combined a Flat Base Breakout with Cup Recovery retesting the prior peak. SIL also registered a Double Bottom with the neckline broken. These pattern tags do not guarantee follow-through, but they help identify where momentum and structure aligned today.

Nifty 50 and Bank Nifty option flow: direction up, conviction weak

NIFTY 50 closed at spot 24252.0. Its option-flow score was 35, classified as NOISE, with direction marked UP and flow skew at 4.5%.

BANK NIFTY stood at 57761.9. Its option-flow score was 30, also in the NOISE category, with direction UP and a higher flow skew of 12.3%.

The key reading is that both benchmark indices showed an upward directional tag in flow, but the scores remained weak enough to be treated as low-conviction signals rather than strong trend confirmation.

Index radar probabilities: caution despite an upward flow tag

The NIFTY 50 radar showed P(+0.5% move) at 12% versus P(-0.5%) at 86%. For BANK NIFTY, the radar was even more defensive, with P(+0.5% move) at 5% versus P(-0.5%) at 95%.

This creates an important contrast for traders: option flow direction was UP for both indices, yet the radar probabilities strongly favored a 0.5% downside move over a 0.5% upside move. In practical terms, that suggests the market backdrop still carried downside risk even as intraday or near-term flow leaned positive.

Retail trader takeaway: separate momentum stocks from index risk

Today’s tape offered a useful lesson for retail traders: strong stock-specific momentum can coexist with mixed or fragile index-level signals. A trader looking only at headline gainers such as ALLCARGO, WELCORP, TBZ or THOMASCOOK might read the session as broadly bullish, but the Nifty and Bank Nifty radar data argued for caution.

A disciplined approach is to treat breakout patterns and sharp gainers as candidates for focused watchlists, while using option-flow scores and radar probabilities to judge whether the wider market is supportive. When index flow sits in the NOISE zone, position sizing and risk control become especially important.
